Who's pumped?

I know it might seem like the Red Sox have ALL the momentum going into this big series (four straight games with 10+ runs, Yanks just got beat 15-0) but you NEVER know what's going to happen when the Sox show up at Yankee Stadium.

Hopefully that anti-jinx will work its magic for us Sox fans.

A Day Like Today Must Be Commemorated

Okay, I have thought this through carefully and in no way do I believe that the following could possibly jinx anything...when a man like David Ortiz successfully steals a base, it deserves some recognition! Take that, all ye who say he runs like an elephant!

Matt Damon on Letterman 06/05/07 RED SOX!!!!!

In a continued effort to spark some posting, I found this video for you all to watch. It goes along with all the jinxing and whatnot that has previously been discussed. It's getting old, I know, but no one else is stepping up to the plate. Well Janey, apparently we can add Matt Damon to the list of jinxers as well.

The Papel-Girls

Ok, we've never discussed this before, but there is a blog that Janey and I love that is called the Papel-blog. Naturally, it's all about Papelbon, and it is written by two girls who we have dubbed the Papel-Girls. They are hilarious, and so many times I have read their posts and wanted to copy their ideas for our blog, but I have refrained because I got through my entire high school and college career without any plagerism and don't feel the need to start now. Plus, I'm kinda funny without anyone's help anyway. But I digress...

I would like to direct your attention to this post: another night with ace killer. Apparently Janey isn't the only person with a jinxing problem.


I would also like to take this opportunity to again point out that I don't believe in jinxes, but it sure is fun to call Janey on all the ones she is apparently placing.

When We Last Tuned In...

The last time anyone blogged, Janey, once again, placed a marvelous jinx on the Sox. Having spent an hour this weekend with the lone Yankee blogger, we came to some conclusions. Ahem...

Cindy's Conclusion:
Janey, please continue to make predictions about the Red Sox.

Betsy's Proposal:
Please refrain from predicting the outcome of any game. Thanks!

Other than that, things are basically the same as they were the last time any one blogged. The Sox are still in the lead, but can't beat the Yanks. Although the Yankees are making a comeback. Last I heard, they were on a 5 game winning streak, and had moved into 2nd place. A mere 10 or so games behind...it appears as though this season is just getting started.

I have read and reread the contents of this post. I don't think it sets any bars or makes any claims as to the outcome of any game or series. It only states that which is undeniably true...are we clear?

Yoouuuukkkkkkk has a blog

Well, since nobody seems to have much to post about these days (maybe if the Red Sox's lead shrinks down to single digits again, this will get interesting) I thought I'd share this link to Youkilis' new blog. So far he doesn't seem to be quite as prolific as Schilling but it's interesting nonetheless!

The Rivalry Renewed

I just tuned into the game...love these nationally televised games! This series just got a lot more interesting. Haven't all of the Red Sox wins against the Yanks been come-from-behind victories?

So, it's the bottom of the 5th and the Yankees are up 4-1. Normally, I might be worried, but I notice that Wang has already pitched 95 pitches, meaning our boys will have a chance to knock around the bullpen very, very soon.

If I see sweaty, piggy Jason Giambi grab his crotch again I'm going to puke.

Hinske is a meathead

I have been trying like crazy to find a picture of Hinske's spectacular face-first catch last night but I can't!! Did everyone see it? Unbelievable.

Even more unbelievable - I walk into the office this morning and ask my friend Adam, "Did you catch Baseball Tonight? Did you see that face plant by Hinske?" and he was like, "Yeah, that probably didn't even hurt, the guy's such a meathead...you know I went to high school with him, right?" And I was like, "NO!!!!!!!!" So, yeah, my friend went to the same high school as Eric Hinske and reports that he was a three-sport star athlete and king of the school, and a total meathead. I can't believe he never told that he knows a Red Sox!

Wow.

Six runs in the bottom of the ninth?!?!

A New Little Feature

Because lately it feels like Janey and I are just posting for each other, I'm going to start a little tradition in which I highlight some key discussions we have regarding the Sox in our daily conversations while we "watch" the game online since she's at work and the games aren't generally shown here. I am only doing this so that later, we can go back and reminisce about the inane conversations we had while she was supposed to be working and I was ignoring report cards or lesson plans or some other equally mundane task.

Ideas

I have all these ideas for posts. I'm afraid to write them down though, especially after the Janey-Papelbon-Stat Ruining Post. I still heart Papelbon though, and I'll eventually forgive Janey.

The other day I had this great post about how the Red Sox are in fir...no, don't want to go there.

And then today I was reading an article, and Francona made this innane comment about Beckett and about how his attitude is gre...I mean, I read nothing, know nothing, tonight's pitching will be great, and he'll get his next win. And I want you all to know that I absolutely did NOT go back and start comparing his last year's stats to this year's after reading the article.

Ugh...I guess we're back to the no posting since I can't talk about anything now that Janey has proven that jinxes are true.

Don't any of you Yankees writers (Cindy) have anything to say about Clemens coming back?

I don't really know what to post right now

I'm starting to feel like the schoolyard bully picking on the weakest kid when it comes to the Yankees...I even WANTED them to win on Saturday cause I would have felt too awful if the Yankees had lost because of Karstens' broken leg. So, I'll try to focus on the Red Sox and temporarily IGNORE the rivalry.

The good news:

Starting May with the best record in baseball - not too shabby.

The bad news:

Still 5 more months to play. Plenty of time for a spectacular flop.

The good news:

Tim Wakefield and Josh Beckett both have ERAs under 3.00.

The bad news:

Beckett gets a ridiculous amount of run support and Wakefield gets none. We can't count on Beckett having such good luck in the future, but based on past seasons, I don't really expect Wake's luck to improve. Makes me SO mad cause he's such a great pitcher!

The good news:

Papelbon carried a 0.0 ERA through April for the second straight year.

The bad news:

Okay, there's no downside here!
